It was Veer Chotrani’s day in the Asian junior individual squash championship here on Sunday. The talented youngster annexed the u-19 boys’ title in an all-India final with higher seeded Yash Fadte settling for silver medal. Veer won 11-5, 9-11, 11-7, 9-11, 11-7.

Veer is now the third Indian to win this prestigious title after Ravi Dixit and Vela Senthilkumar earlier. Veer — son of former national champion Manish Chotrani — was the U-13 winner five years ago in Iran.

Two other finals featuring Indians did not yield gold. Neel Joshi settled for silver in the boys’ u-17 category as did Yuvna Gupta in the girls’ u-15 section.

The results (fnals): Boys: U-19: Veer Chotrani (9/16) bt Yash Fadte (3/4) 11-5, 9-11, 11-7, 9-11, 11-7. U-17: Nathan Kueh Tze Bing (2) (Mal) bt Neel Joshi (3/4) 5-11, 11-3, 12-10, 11-8.

Girls: U-15: Aira Binti Azman (1) (MAS) bt Yuvna Gupta (3/4) 9-11, 11-1, 11-3, 11-9.
