TN teams given kits

The Tamil Nadu teams from various disciplines bound for the Kerala National Games (Jan. 31 to Feb. 14) were given kits by Hemant Kumar Sinha, Secretary, Youth Welfare & Sports Development Department and Shambhu Kallolikar, Member Secretary, Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, here on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, W.I. Davaram, President, Tamil Nadu Olympic Association, believed TN will perform better than the last time.

“We won 14 gold, 11 silver and 27 bronze medals and finished eighth overall in Jharkhand in 2011. We are sending a large contingent of 375 participants for 25 disciplines. We are well prepared and hope to do well,” he said. Davaram further said the winner and runner-up (in team and individual events) will get Rs. 5 lakh and 3 lakh each respectively. The third place will receive Rs. 2 lakh.
