Thumping win for PSPB

LUCKNOW: A star-studded Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) began its campaign in the men’s National hockey championship ‘B’ Division with a 12-0 thrashing of Major Ports Sports Control Board (MPSCB) here on Monday.

Filled with current and past India players, PSPB rode on a four-goal spree by Lalit Upadhyay to dominate the Pool-A game all the way through. Eight different players got their name on the scoresheet.

In another lop-sided match, Hockey Him registered a comprehensive 19-0 victory with Rinku Antil, Vijay and Jatin scoring three goals each in the Pool-B match.

The results:

Pool-A: Maharashtra 5 (Akshay Jadhav 2, Sanjay Toppo, Aniket Gurav, Ajinkya Jadhav) bt Telangana 1 (Yogesh Karipa); PSPB 12 (Lalit Upadhyay 4, Sher Singh 2, Tyron Pereira, Roshan Minz, Tushar Khandker, Mohd. Amir Khan, Diwakar Ram, Bikash Toppo) bt MPSCB 0.

Pool-B: Hockey Him 19 (Rinku Antil 3, Vijay 3, Jatin 3, Atinderpal Singh 2, Randeep Singh 2, Sunil 2, Sunil Sonkar 2, Yadwinder Singh, Amit Malhotra) bt Andaman & Nicobar 0; Delhi 3 (Parveen Kumar 2, Ankur Patel) bt Andhra Pradesh 0.

Pool-C: CISF 6 (Nicky Rajak 3, Basant Bharadwaj 2, Adnan Wasim) bt Uttarakhand 1 (Vikas Joshi); Vidarbha 3 (Khalid Ahmed, Wasim Khan, Sakib Sayyed) bt Sports Authority of Gujarat 1 (Ruchit Patel).
