Three Indians in joint third in Asian chess championship

Vidit Gujrathi moved into the joint third place with five points at the end of the seventh round of the Asian chess championship. Two other Indians, S.P. Sethuraman and B. Adhiban, are also on five.

With just two rounds left, two Chinese players, Wang Ho and Bu Xiangzhi, top the table with 5.5 points each.

On 4.5 are four Indians — Aravindh Chithambaram, Deep Sengupta, Karthikeyan Murali and Surya Shekhar Ganguly.

In the women’s event, R. Vaishali is joint-second with 5.5 points from seven rounds, alongside Gulishkan Nakhbayeva of Kazakstan. V

Vietnam’s Vo Thi Kim Phung is in the lead, with six points.
