Lewis Hamilton had the fastest time in the first practice for Formula One’s Canadian Grand Prix on Friday.
The Mercedes driven by the two—time Formula One champion turned in a fastest lap of 1 minute, 16.212 seconds in the opening session at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Hamilton is the points leader in the championship standings. He has won the pole position in five of the first six races this season.
Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg was second—best on Friday, Romain Grosjean of Lotus was third and Nico Hulkenberg of Force India was fourth.
