Sindhu makes main draw

National champion P.V. Sindhu notched up convincing victories to make it to the main draw in the women's singles of the All England Championship. Meanwhile, Peter Gade, the former World No. 1 from Denmark, will set a record of competing at the highest level for 17 years.

The results: Qualifying (first round): Women : P.V. Sindhu bt Rena Wang 21-19, 21-14; Second round : Sindhu bt Lindaweni Fanetri 21-14, 21-18. Men: First round : RMV Guru Sai Dutt bt Vladimir Ivanov 21-19, 21-17; Sourabh Verma lost to Hsuan Yi Hsueh 20-22, 22-20, 16-21.
