Ruthvika wins women’s title

Thailand’s Sitthikom Thammasin defeated Lakshya Sen 15-21 , 21-14 , 21-19 to win the men’s title at the Tata Open India International badminton on Sunday.

In a 37-minute exciting women’s final, Ruthvika Shivani Gadde got the better of a very crafty Riya Mukerjee in straight games.

Ruthvika won the opening game 21-12, and then saved three game points in the second before putting it across a younger and fighting opponent.

The results (finals):

Men: Sitthikom Thammasin (Tha) bt Lakshya Sen 15-21 , 21-14 , 21-19. Doubles: Maneepong Jongjit & Nanthakarn Yordphaisong (Tha) bt Aaron Chia & Wooi Yik Soh (Mas) 21-6, 21-9.

Women: Ruthvika Shivani Gadde bt Riya Mukherjee 21-12, 23-21. Doubles: Ng Tsz Yau & Yeung Nga Ting (Hkg) bt Ng Wing Yung & Yuen Sin Ying (Hkg) 23-25, 21-14 , 21-19.
