Rawat sets the pace with new meet records

Priyank Rana and Megha Balli are the fastest in the 50m freestyle

Khushagra Rawat of Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), who has already achieved the Olympic B-standard qualification for the Tokyo Games, set the tempo with a new meet record in the 1500m freestyle with a time of 16 minutes 36.14 seconds in the 57th Delhi University inter-college aquatic championship at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee swimming pool on Wednesday.

Khushagra had also won the 200m freestyle with a new meet record, apart from golds in the 400m freestyle and 400m individual medley. He was also part of the 4x200m relay team that won the gold.

Vishal does well

Another international swimmer Vishal Grewal of St. Stephen’s College set a new meet mark in the men’s 200m individual medley with a time of 2:15.37s. Vishal had set a new mark in the 100m freestyle with 52.89s on the opening day.

Priyank Rana of Hansraj and Megha Balli of Lady Shriram College emerged the fastest by winning the 50m freestye gold in the men’s and women’s sections with time of 23.93s and 29.80s respectively.

Jasmine Gurung of SRCC was also in robust form in the women’s event, as she swept the 100, 400, and 800m freestyle gold medals apart from the 200m individual medley.

Anubhuti Barua of Jesus and Mary College won the 100m butterfly and backstroke events, apart from the 50m backstroke and butterfly events. In act, she set a new mark of 34.93s in the 50m backstroke.

Two gold for Ansh

Ansh Arora of Hansraj won the 50m and 100m breastroke events for men with timings of 30.50s and 1:6.88s. Vaishali Grewal of Hindu won the same events for women.

Nanak Moolchandani of SRCC, who set a new meet record of 1:01.12 in 100m backstroke for men, followed that with 50m backstroke (28.49s) and 200m backstroke (2:25.52) golds.

Firdoush Kayamkhani of Jesus and Mary College won gold in 200m and 400m individual medley events, apart from the 200m butterfuly event.

Sameer Sejwal of St. Stephen’s swept the gold medals in the 50m butterfuly and the 100m butterfly events, the latter with a new meet mark of 56.64s.

Vashali Grewal of Hindu College won the women’s 50m and 200m breaststroke events.
