National two-wheeler racing champion Rajini Krishnan bagged the overall championship (143 points) in the inaugural Pirelli Malaysia Superbike championship (MSC) at the Sepang International circuit, Kuala Lumpur.

In the fifth and final round on Sunday, Rajini warded off a stiff resistance from Malaysia’s Muhammad Zaqhwan Zaidi, a former Moto2 rider.

Zaidi, who finished first in both the races in the final round, finished overall second with 140 points.

“I am really happy and proud to win the International race in the 1000cc category for the first time.

“This is my third International crown having won the Malaysian Super Series in 150cc in the year 2006, and then the Losail Asian road racing championship in 600cc in 2013,” said Rajini.

“This has given me a lot of confidence to aim higher and all I need is sponsorship to realise my dreams,” he said.
