Child archer Ch. Dolly Shivani has surpassed her own and set a new one in archery by scoring 710 points out of 720 in just 32 minutes using a recurve bow here on Thursday.

She shot 71 arrows at the target set at 15 metres distance at the VMC Volga Archery Field of the Cherukuri Volga Archery Academy in the presence of representatives of the India Book of Records and Asia Book of Records .

Hitting the bull’s eye

While the India Book of Records set a target of 550 points out of 720 in 48 minutes, Asia Book of Records set a target of 600 points in the same duration. Shivani, however, surpassed the two targets and set a record by scoring 710 points in 32 minutes, as she fired 72 arrows in two sets.

Asia Book of Records representative Niraja Roy Chowdary handed over the citation of the record of ‘maximum points scored in recurve archery by a minor’ to Shivani, and her father and archery coach Cherukuri Satyanarayana.

Target 2024 Olympics

Speaking to reporters, Shivani said she dedicates the record to her brother, parents, and the country. Mr. Satyanarayana said Shivani aims to compete and bag medals in the 2024 Olympics.

Shivani is the sister of Indian archery coach and international archer late Cherukuri Lenin. The feat, a tribute to Lenin, marks his 9th death anniversary.

Seven-year-old Shivani hit the headlines when she was just 35 months old and scored 388 points out of 720 by firing 36 arrows at two targets, setting a world record.

Presently she is a Class II student in Dr. K.K.R. Gowtham School in the city.
