Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president N. Ramachandran reacted strongly to secretary Rajiv Mehta’s call for shifting of the venue for the Executive Council (EC) and Annual General Body (AGM) from Chennai to Delhi.

Speaking to The Hindu here on Saturday, “As per the IOA Constitution, I have the authority to decide the time, date and venue for AGM and as regards the EC meeting. I will direct him [Rajiv],” he said.

When asked about the discussion on the notice for expulsion of the IOA president moved by Hockey India, Ramachandran said “it is not in the agenda of the AGM.”

Ramachandran had announced that Executive Council meet will be held on November 9 and the AGM on December 14 in Chennai.

PTI reports

On Friday, Mehta had called for an Emergency Meeting of its Executive Council on November 7. Mehta called for the Emergency Meeting on the request of 19 members, who met here on Friday. These members have demanded the shifting of the venue from Chennai to New Delhi.

The 19 Executive Council members have also requested to add more items to the agenda for the Executive Council meeting. These include discussion on the notice for expulsion of IOA President under the provisions of constitution moved by Hockey India.
