Nishanth Nandakumar of PSBB-K.K. Nagar and Sharanya Srikanth (Sankara) clinched the senior boys’ and girls’ titles respectively in the Mylapore Club- Sportstar city schools table tennis tournament for non-rankers on Sunday. Arun Anant, CEO, The Hindu , gave away the prizes. S. Krishnamurthy, Tournament Secretary, Mylapore Club, proposed the vote of thanks.

The results (finals):Boys: Sub-junior: L.N. Vishwak (MVM) bt Vikash Ravikumar (Chinmaya Vidyalaya) 11-7, 8-11, 12-10, 11-7. Juniors: Sachin Hemanth (Vidya Mandir) bt M. Abilash (PSBB-N) 11-9, 5-11, 11-6, 9-11, 11-6. Seniors: Nishanth Nandakumar (PSBB-KK) bt Sachin Hemanth (Vidya Mandir) 7-11, 11-6, 11-7, 11-9.

Girls: Sub-juniors: N. Aashika (Doveton) bt D. Varshini (St. Joseph’s) 11-5, 11-2, 11-5. Juniors: C. Kezia Sharon (DAV-Gopalapuram) bt H. Shalini (PSBB-N) 10-12, 11-9, 11-8, 11-8. Seniors: Sharanya Srikanth (Sankara) bt H. Swathi (PS SSS) 13-11, 11-5, 8-11, 11-6.

Mukunth sizzles

K. Mukunth’s 87-ball 169 powered St. Michael’s Academy to a 118-run victory over Sindhi Model SSS in the Sacred Hearts city schools under-17 T20 tournament recently.

The scores: St. Michael’s Academy 231 for three in 20 overs (K. Mukunth 169, M. Venkat 45) bt Sindhi Model 113 in 19.1 overs (Raghu 42); SBOA 225 for six in 20 overs (Abhisek 100, Akash 44, Venkatesh 38, Mayank 36) bt Chennai Public School 119 in 20 overs (Sailesh 31, C.M. Harish four for 22); St. Michael’s Academy 188 for five in 20 overs (K. Mukunth 80, M. Venkat 33) bt Chimaya Vidayalaya 118 for eight in 20 overs (Adithiya 37, Praveen 28); Nellai Nadar 102 in 20 overs lost to SBOA School 105 for five in 16.4 overs (Swarj 34, Vishal 27).
