Pankaj Advani claimed his ninth senior National snooker title, with a 70-36, 91-22, 66-06, 65-51, 77-49, 59-18 win over Laxman Rawat in a one-sided final, here on Sunday.

Advani, who won 11 junior National titles, has nine billiards and three six-red snooker crowns as a senior. He also has 21 World titles in cue sport.

The match was defined by the champion’s experience as he brought on a lethal combination of scoring and safety of the highest quality.

The only really close frame was the fourth which could have ended with the scoreline reading 3-1, giving Rawat an outside chance of a comeback. But once Advani clinched that too with a fine clearance, it was curtains for Rawat.

In the women’s final, Varshaa Sanjeev defeated Arantxa Sanchis of Maharashtra 4-2. Varshaa had accounted for top players Amee Kamani in the quarterfinals and Vidya Pillai in the semifinals.
