Shahan Ali Mohsin will be among the leading contenders for top honours when the JK Tyre-FMSCI National karting championship gets under way with the X-30 class races at the Meco Kartopia track here on Saturday.

As many as 30 racing drivers from across the country will be in action over the weekend in three different categories (cadet, junior and senior).

With multiple National titles to his name, Agra’s Mohsin starts as a strong favourite in the senior category in this restructured National championship. Also in the fray are Chennai’s Nirmal Umashankar and Raghul Rangasamy.

Mohsin will line up in the junior category too, where he will have to contend with the Bengaluru duo of Rohan Madesh and Ruhaan Alva.

Pune’s Shriya Lohia is one to watch out for in the cadet section, as is local boy Ishaan Madesh. The first and the second round of the National X-30 championship will be held in Bengaluru, while the third and the fourth will take place in Hyderabad in July.

The event will return to Meco Kartopia for the final round in August. The winner of the National X-30 title will compete in the X30 World Finals in Europe.
