Mixed luck for Tamil Nadu in Sub-junior basketball championships

Tamil Nadu boys face defeat against Maharashtra boys; Tamil Nadu girls move into the semifinals with a crushing victory over defending champions Punjab

It was mixed luck for Tamil Nadu in the quarterfinals of the 46th Sub-junior basketball championships at the Jawaharlal Nehru indoor stadium here on Saturday.

Maharashtra boys defeated Tamil Nadu 84-76 after leading 42-22 at half-time.

However, Tamil Nadu girls moved into the semifinals with a crushing 76-27 win over defending champion Punjab.

Delhi girls topple Kerala

Delhi girls came back from behind to topple Kerala 65-61. Delhi scored 29 points in the last quarter to beat Kerala which held a 20-point lead at half-time.

Boys: Punjab 57 (Jaddu Man 29, Rupansh Garg 13) bt Chhattisgarh 50 (Sanju Gajbjiye 27, Shilendra Singh 10); Maharashtra 84 (Shaik Taufiq 22, Badal Rawat 16, Kunal Shirale 13, Yogesh Yadav 12) bt Tamil Nadu 76 (Abhimanyu 21, Shabareesh 21, Harish Aravind 13).

Girls: Karnataka 69 (M.K. Yashaswini 17, Harini G. Iyer 11) bt Uttar Pradesh 49 (Tejeswini 13, Aanavi 12, Deepikka 10).

Delhi 65 (Reha Singh 20, Harshitha 13) bt Kerala 61 (Tiyona Ann Philip 17, Amanda Maria Rocha 14, Sona Rajan 10); Maharashtra 86 (Sameesha Chandak 24, Akahaya Patil 18, Anaya Bhavsar 12) bt Madhya Pradesh 65 (Guvi Agarwal 31, Tanu Varma 16); Tamil Nadu 76 (Juna Chrsolin 37, Antheya Daisy 11) bt Punjab 27.
