Argentina’s Miguel Carballo battled through gusty winds and rain delays to take the sole lead at the half-way stage of the Louis Philippe Cup golf tournament, at Prestige Golfshire Club here on Wednesday.

Carballo (9-under 131) shot a good two-under 68 second round. India’s Udayan Mane, who was tied for first-place with Carballo overnight, returned a one-under 69 and slipped to joint-second, alongside Om Prakash Chouhan.

Strong winds and heavy rain, which caused a 40-minute stoppage in play, posed a stiff challenge for the golfers. The course began to play slow, which made it tough to record low scores.

India’s Rashid Khan shot the best card of the day (six-under 64). He is in tied-fifth spot, alongside Rahil Gangjee and Australia’s Marcus Both.

The scores: 131: Miguel Carballo (Arg) (63, 68); 132: Om Prakash Chouhan (65, 67), Udayan Mane (63, 69); 133: Divyanshu Bajaj (65, 68); 134: Rashid Khan (70, 64), Khalin Joshi (66, 68); 135: Harendra Gupta (66, 69), Deepinder Singh (68, 67) .
