Karnataka emerged the overall champion as the 39th junior National aquatic championships came to a close here on Sunday.

A.V. Jayaveena of Tamil Nadu and S.P. Likith of Karnataka stole the show by setting new record times, thereby helping their respective states finish the day with five gold medals each.

While Neil Contractor of Gujarat and Likith were adjudged the best swimmers in the boys’ section, Priyanka Priyadarshini of Delhi, A.V. Jayaveena and Aakansha Vora of Maharashtra were named the best in the girls’ section. The five-day competition witnessed a total of 26 National records.
