Top-seeded Y. Pranjala outplayed Yinglak Jittakoat of Thailand 6-1, 6-3 in the girls’ final of the ITF grade-3 junior tennis tournament at the CLTA Complex here on Saturday.
It was the third international singles title for the 15-year-old Pranjala, ranked a career-best 67 on the ITF junior list. In fact, she was defending the title that she had won last year.
Pranjala will go to Melbourne for the Australian Open junior event, and will compete in a Grade-1 tournament in Australia in the run up to the Grand Slam. In the boys’ section top-seeded Yuva Ito of Japan was beaten in straight sets by Alberto Lim of Philippines.
