Injured Sindhu pulls out of all England tourney

World No. 11 shuttler P.V. Sindhu will not play in the prestigious All England Championship, which begins on March 3, at Birmingham owing to a stress fracture on her left foot and doctors say she will be out of action for six weeks, according to Badminton Association of India secretary (events) K.Ch. Punnaiah Chowdary here on Saturday.

Sindhu developed the fracture sometime before she took part in the 79th senior National badminton championship held at Vijayawada early this month.

Nineteen-year-old Sindhu is likely to miss the German Open Grand Prix at Mulheim an der Ruhr from February 24 to March 1, Swiss Open Grand Prix at Basel from March 10 to 14 and the India Open Super Series at New Delhi from March 24 to 29.

“All others shuttlers like Saina Nehwal, P. Kashyap will take part in the all England fixture, Mr. Chowdary added.
