Koneru Humpy slumped to her second straight defeat in the FIDE Women’s Grand Prix chess tournament, going down to Kateryna Lahno of Ukraine in the eighth round on Wednesday.
The second-seeded Indian has four points, well behind the leaders Hou Yifan, the top seed, and Ju Wenjun, both of China, who have 5.5 points, with just three rounds remaining.
In the seventh round, Hou scored a crucial victory over compatriot Ruan Lufei, while Ju drew with Batkhuyag Munguntuul of Mongolia.
