Brooklyn Nets guard Joe Harris sprang a surprise by claiming the three-point contest title at the NBA All-Star weekend here.
Harris was in prime shooting form, going past favourite Stephen Curry by four points in the final round. Stephen’s younger brother Seth, meanwhile, didn’t make it past the first round.
“It feels surreal to win, but shooting off a rack is not indicative of me being a better shooter than Stephen. He is the best shooter of all time," a humble Harris said.
Oklahoma City Thunder guard Hamidou Diallo won the Slam Dunk contest, showcasing his dazzling athletic abilities. The Nigerian provided a spectacular highlight when he dunked over 7’ 1” Hall Of Fame centre Shaquille O’Neal, and hung on the rim by his elbow.
Asked if he knew he could make the dunk, Diallo said, "I was sure of it. I wouldn't have brought O'Neal out there if I wasn't sure."
Boston Celtics’ Jayson Tatum clinched the Skills Challenge trophy in dramatic style, when he sank a three-pointer from half-court to edge out Trae Young.
