Sri Lanka’s Anura Rohana opened up a three-stroke lead after shooting a fine eight-under-64 in round two of the Indo-MIM Bengaluru Open golf championship here on Friday. The 45-year-old turned in a bogey-free performance to take his two-day total to an imposing 13-under 131 at the KGA course.
Aadil impresses
Also impressive on the day was 17-year-old rookie Aadil Bedi, who fired a seven-under 65 to climb up to the second spot at 10-under 134. The trio of Rashid Khan, Mukesh Kumar and Aman Raj was one shot behind, tied for third.
Rohana, who began the day in fourth place, one off the lead, opened with birdies on the first two holes. He missed a few short putts but his short game was largely good on the day. Meanwhile, Bedi (69-65), playing only his fourth professional event, shot the best round of his career to rise 13 places on the leaderboard. The Chandigarh golfer, who represented India at the Asian Games this year before turning pro, mixed eight birdies with a lone bogey.
Defending champion Udayan Mane was tied eighth (seven-under 137) while Honey Baisoya, who had a share of the lead overnight, posted a 74 in round two to slip to tied 14th (four-under 140).
The halfway cut fell at one-over 145, with 62 professionals and one amateur advancing.
