Gahan wins chess title

Mangalore Chess Academy (MCA) in association with Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan conducted inter-district chess tournament on Sunday.

The tournament, held under the guidance of South Kanara District Chess Association, attracted 51 players, including 17 FIDE-rated ones, from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, according to an MCA release.

Gahan M.G. scored six points in six rounds and won the title in the open category. Ananthram R.U. and Vivek Raj came second and third respectively. Aditya Pai won the U-15 boys championship. Abhishek Bhat and Swathi Bhat won the U-12 boys and girls championships whereas Siddharth Beedu and Ashwija Bharanya won the U-9 Boys and Girls championships. Parithosh won the U-7 championship. In the veterans category, 59-year-old Ashirwad won.
