Bengaluru has hosted a number of high-profile FIBA events in recent years, including the previous Women’s Asia Cup in 2017 (Divisions A and B). Japan had defeated Australia in the final on that occasion while India earned promotion to Division A after topping Division B.
The city was also the venue for the FIBA U-16 Women’s Asian Championship in 2017 and the FIBA U-18 Women’s Asian Championship in 2018.
