Following the first successful camp conducted by Vladimir Kramnik for young chess talents from India, Microsense is all set to rope in Indian chess legend V. Anand to conduct a similar camp for promising young talents in the near future.

Speaking at an event to felicitate India’s latest GMs P. Iniyan, Prithu Gupta and Raunak Sadhwani at a function on Thursday, Microsense MD S. Kailasanathan confirmed though the details and dates are yet to be finalised.

Second camp

Microsense recently roped in Kramnik to train six young Indian GMs in Switzerland and the second camp is likely to be held in December in Sitges, Spain and a third camp could be held in Chennai in February. It is also likely that the third camp could see an increase in the number of players.

“There is a chance that we may include a women player but I don’t want to go far ahead in saying who she will be,” said Kailasanathan.

“I have to applaud Microsense for the support they are giving our players. The systemic coaching and ability to work with people like Kramnik will make a huge difference. This kind of patient and long-term support will go a long way and we have agreed to see where I can chip in. I am happy a lot of youngsters are getting support as this puts your head at ease,” said Anand at the function in which the three new GMs were given a cash award of ₹ 1 lakh each.

On his upcoming tournaments, Anand said, “I am going to play 27 games in Romania (2019 Superbet Rapid & Blitz) and another 27 games in Kolkata (Grand Chess Tour). That is a lot of blitz chess and I don’t think you have a lot of time to look at each game when you play nine games in a day. So I just want to be in the right frame of mind.”

Earlier, Kramnik, the former World Champion, sent in a recorded message congratulating the three recently crowned GMs and said that he has been tracking their games and seen the improvement post the camp he held.
