The Commonwealth Games build-up plunged into further controversy on Sunday as three swimmers tested positive for dope tests.
Richa Mishra, a medley specialist from Delhi, who was declared the ‘best female swimmer' at last month's national championship in Jaipur, was among those charged with an anti-doping rule violation. The others were Jyotsana Pansare and Amar Muralidharan of Maharashtra.
Named in CWG team
Mishra and Pansare were among those named in the Indian team for the Commonwealth Games next month. The Swimming Federation of India stated that they would be dropped in the event of their ‘B' samples testing positive.
11 cases so far
All three tested positive for stimulant methylhexaneamine. The number of cases affected by methylhexaneamine has gone up to 11 now. Earlier, six wrestlers and two athletes had tested positive for the same substance.
