Reacting to Viswanathan Anand's defence of the World Chess Championship title at Sofia, N. Srinivasan, President of the All India Chess Federation (AICF), said that he was ‘delighted by the excellent show.'

“He has proved himself to be a great World champion as he brushed aside the effects of his late arrival at Sofia due to the unexpected air traffic disruption all over Europe. The last game was vintage Anand. The entire chess fraternity looks at this Indian genius with great admiration,” he said in a statement here on Wednesday.

D.V. Sundar, Honorary Secretary, AICF, congratulated Anand for his ‘magnificent display.'

“The All India Chess Federation congratulates GM Vishy Anand on winning the title for the fourth time,” he said.

He also spoke on Anand's continued excellence and the benefic influence he exerts on Indian chess.

“For the past two decades he has been in the top five in the World ranking list which is by itself unparalleled in the history of Indian Sports. Good times lie ahead for Indian chess as more players, inspired by Anand, are going to take to the sport in a big way,” he said.
