National sector journey of QBR announced

The Organising Committee Commonwealth Games on Tuesday announced the National sector route for the Queen's Baton Relay (QBR).

The Queen's Baton will enter the country from Pakistan through the Wagha-Attari border on June 25 and will touch 28 states and seven union territories.

From Punjab, the QBR will enter Jammu and Kashmir on June 29. Then it will travel to Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar before reaching Bagdogra (West Bengal), from where it will start its journey of the North East on July 15.

The QBR will move through Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura before flying from Agartala to Kolkata on August 1. The journey will continue through Jharkhand, Orissa, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh to Chennai and then to the Andaman and Nicobar islands.

It will come back to Tamil Nadu, cover Puducherry and Kerala on its way to the Lakshadweep islands.

In the final phase, the QBR will visit Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, Daman and Diu, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana before reaching Delhi on September 30.

The 100-day journey will culminate when the QBR reaches the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here during the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games on October 3.
