Lakshmi snatches lead

Andhra Pradesh’s P. Lakshmi Sahiti defeated second-seeded Woman International Master Sai Meera to snatch the lead after seven rounds of the 36th Women’s National challengers’ chess tournament here on Friday.

On a double-round day, Lakshmi won her games to reach six points. Six players share the second spot with 5.5 points each.

The results:

Seventh round: Sai Meera (5.5) lost to Lakshmi Sahiti (6); P. Priya (5.5) drew with R. Bharathi (5.5); Baisakhi Das (5) lost to Supriya Maji (5.5); Swati Mohota (4.5) lost to Bhakti Kulkarni (5.5); A. Sithalatchumi (4.5) lost to Bhagyashree Thipsay (5.5); Devangi Patankar (5) drew with C. Sahajasri (5); Kiran Manisha Mohanty (4.5) drew with Anuprita Patil (5); G. Apurva (4.5) drew with A.G. Nimmy (4.5); Amruta Mokal (5) bt P.V. Nandhidhaa (4); S. Harini (4.5) drew with A. Akshaya (4.5).

Sixth round: Bharathi lost to Sai Meera; Bhakti drew with Priya; Nimmy lost to Baisakhi; Anuprita drew with Devangi; Nandhidhaa lost to Lakshmi; Swati drew with Sithalatchumi; Bhagyashree bt Sonakshi Rathore; Amruta drew with Kiran; Sahajasri bt C. Divyasri; Supriya bt B. Aswathy.
