Jagtap bows out of squash championship

July 31, 2010 01:04 pm | Updated 01:04 pm IST - Quito (Ecuador)

Aditya Jagtap, the lone Indian remaining in contention, went down to top-seeded Amr Khaled Khalifa from Egypt in straight games in the quarterfinals at the World Junior squash championships here.

From the first point, Khalifa kept Jagtap pinned to the back corners and did not give him an inch to play his strokes. Jagtap fought for every point and eventually went down 5-11, 2-11, 2-11.

The Indian boys will now be gearing up for the team championships, which start on August 2 at the same venue.
