Indian women ensure recurve sweep

Indian girls monopolised the last-four spots in the recurve division but could manage just one semifinalist in the compound section of the International archery test event for the Commonwealth Games at the Yamuna Sports Complex here on Wednesday.

Chekrovolu used her experience to bounce back and down Dola Banerjee 4-2, the scores being 47-56, 52-50, 54-41 in the best-of-three match format.

In men's recurve, favourite Tarundeep Rai needed a tie-breaker to overpower Atanu Das 4-3. Similarly, in the men's compound, Chinnaraju Srither got past Paltan Hansda 4-3, after scoring a 10 against his rival's 9. India captured three semifinal spots in this section.
