Indian Navy wins overall boxing title

Indian Navy emerged overall champion in the 59th inter-Services boxing championship which was conducted here by the MEG and Centre.

Navy took the top spot with 29 points, narrowly beating Indian Army Red (28 pts).

IAF (10 pts) and Indian Army Green (six) finished third and fourth respectively.

All final bouts were decided on points, barring one. In the lightweight contest, Lakra of Indian Navy knocked out Thoi Thoi Singh of Army Red.

The results (finals): Light flyweight: Poah Jonathan (Indian Navy) bt A. Bony Singh (Army Green) 17-8 on points.

Flyweight: M. Suranjoy Singh (IN) bt Sanjay Kolte (Army Red) 13-10.

Bantamweight: Surinder Singh (IN) bt P. Narjeeth Singh (AR) 28-18.

Featherweight: K. Roshan Singh (AR) bt Chhote Lal Yadav (AG) 9-5.

Lightweight: Lakra (IN) bt Thoi Thoi Singh (AR), knock-out.

Light welterweight: S. Prem Kumar (AR) bt G. Satya Raju (AG) 10-3.

Welterweight: A.C. Sumith Choudary (IAF) bt Jai Singh Patil (AR) 25-9.

Middleweight: K.S. Bartwal (IN) bt Gurpal Singh (AR) 35-14.

Light heavyweight: Gurdev Singh (AR) bt Ankur (IN) 22-8.

Heavyweight: Manpreeth Singh (AR) bt Hari Singh (AG) 13-3.

Super heavyweight: Naresh Kumar (IAF) bt Hardeep Singh (IN) 15-9.
