Arti Singh finishes 25th in women's skeet

Arti Singh shot 65 and finished 25th in a field of 50 in women's skeet in the shotgun World Cup in Beijing on Thursday. She had a series of 21, 22, 22.

Other Indian women were much below par, as Rashmee Rathore was 42nd with 60 and national champion Saniya Shaikh was 43rd with a total of 59.

It was a high scoring affair otherwise despite tough windy conditions, as the Athens Olympics silver medallist Wei Ning of China equalled two world records, as she shot a total of 99 following a qualification score of 74, in taking the gold, three points ahead of Kimberly Rhode of the US.

The Olympic quota places went to Christine Wenzel of Germany and Sutiya Jiewchaloemmit of Thailand who were placed third and fourth respectively following a shoot-off, after being tied at 94.

The results: Women's skeet: 1. Wei Ning (Chn) 99 (EFWR) 74 (EWR);2. Kimberly Rhode (US) 96 (72); 3. Christine Wenzel (Ger) 94 (72); 25. Arti Singh 65; 42. Rashmee Rathore 60; 43. Saniya Shaikh 59.
