Anantha Krishnan grabs the spotlight

A. Anantha Krishnan of Aluva grabbed the spotlight by setting two new meet records in the sub-junior boys’ category on the second day of the State School Aquatic meet at the Water Works Swimming pool on Tuesday.

Anantha Krishnan’s marks came in the 200m butterfly (2:30.90) where he broke the two-year-old record set by R. Rahul (2:36.65). His second record of the day came in 200m individual medley in which he clocked 2:33.19s to break R. Saravyan’s old mark (2:41.00) set in 2007.

R. Rahul of CSH Nanniyode broke a seven-year-old record in the junior boys 100m freestyle event. Rahul clocked 0:58.09 seconds to break T.K. Vimal’s old mark (0:58.17) set in 2002.

The second day’s competition saw a total of eight new records being set with swimmers from sports division claiming four of them. Thiruvananthapuram (178) extended its lead at the top followed by Attingal (121) and Muvattupuzha (69).

In sports division category, Centralised Sports Hostel, Nanniyode was leading the points table with 155 points followed by Sports Division Pirrappancode (74) and Sports Division, Thrissur (73).
