Ashwin Sundar, Arjun Balu and Feroze Khan finished with two wins each as the fourth round of the 15th JK Tyre National Racing Championship concluded here on Sunday.

In the third race of the LGB Formula 4 category, Ashwin Sundar, who had won the first race and finished second in the second, looked at ease right from the start.

But it was the tussle for third place between Vishnu Prasad and Sarosh Hataria which made the race interesting. Vishnu pushed Sarosh by tailing him for most part of the race but was unable to get past him.

Ameya Walavalkar, who started on pole in the JK Tyre Volkswagen Polo R Cup race, broke little sweat as he won. However in the second race, which was won by Sandeep Kumar, he had to fight hard to finish sixth after starting from eighth position in the reverse grid format.

The race was also special for Mexican driver Deigo Duez who celebrated his country’s Independence Day by finishing third on the podium.

In the second race of the Indian Touring Cars Class category, Arjun Balu, starting from pole, was declared the winner after the race was called off in the penultimate lap as third placed V. Rajvirdhan’s engine blew up.

The fifth round of the Championship will be held at the Madras Motor Race Track on October 13 and 14.

The results: Volkswagen Polo R Cup: Race 1 (10 laps): Ameya Walavalkar, 20:28.141s; Race 2 (10 laps): A Sandeep Kumar, 20:42.175s; Championship leader: Ameya Walavalkar (274pts).
