Abdul Wahid Tanveer, the winner of the Dakar Challenge Series class of the India Baja event in Rajasthan recently, will make his debut along with Dakar riders K.P. Aravind, Juan Pedrero and Adrien Metge in the Merzouga Rally in Morocco.

It’s indeed a strong rider line-up by the Sherco-TVS Factory Rally team for the six-day event, which kicks off in Morocco on May 7.

The Sherco TVS stars will be on the RTR450 Dakar spec motorcycles specifically tuned to meet this rally route requirements.

The 135kg Dakar machines use four-stroke DOHC and four-valve technology and produce around 65hp.

The eighth edition of the Merzouga Rally consists of six stages and all the finishers will have the big boost of being able to enter the prestigious Dakar event.

The rally serves two objectives — a must do event in the preparation for the official teams and a springboard for the amateurs who want to try their luck on the Dakar adventure.

For the Dakar rally, this event will be a benchmark to evaluate the technical and physical level of the riders.

Juan is an eight-time Dakar participant and has secured a top-eleven finish four times.

Aravind was the first Indian rider for the Sherco TVS Rally Factory team to take part in the Dakar Rally 2017 and Adrien Metge has been the Brazilian Enduro and Rally champion in 2014 and 2015.

Aravind stood 22nd at Dakar this year for the same team.
