Vicky Chandhok, President, Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), said here on Monday that the final decision on the penalties for Rahil Noorani and Ajai Kini will be made within “a week to ten days”. Noorani and Kini, both of whom were competing in the Volkswagen Polo R Cup, were involved in a scuffle during the final round of the JK Tyre National Racing Championship on Sunday.
After investigating the incident, the Stewards imposed a fine of Rs. 15,000 each on the drivers besides stripping Noorani of the points he had secured in the round.
The Stewards, comprising Vinay Asar, G. Manohar, and Kamlesh Patel, also recommended a three-month suspension of license for Kini.
“The fine will have to be paid immediately by the drivers. The matter has been taken up with the Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee (J. Balamurugan) and a decision on whether to increase, decrease, or retain the same penalty will be made very soon.
“As a president, I condemn such behaviour and would recommend stringent action against anyone who brings the sport to disrepute,” Mr. Chandhok added.
