Jamie Chadwick secured a hat-trick of wins in the second round of the MRF Challenge at the Bahrain International Circuit here on Saturday. Chadwick (20), who had secured a win on Friday, won both the races on Saturday.

“I’m really happy with the wins here. I came here winless from Dubai.

“We knew we had the pace and our aim here was to get some wins,” said Chadwick.

Late charge

The only female driver on the 12-car grid, she was at her best in the fifth and last race of the round when she not only clocked the fastest lap of the week, but also held off a late charge from the championship leader Max Defourny.

Defourny had to be content with a second-place finish, ahead of Danial Frost.

The wins have taken Chadwick’s championship points tally to 183, while Defourny continues to lead with 201 points.

Andreas Estner is in the third position with 124 points.

The third and concluding round of the championship will be held at the MMRT from February 8 to 10.

Race 4: 1. Jamie Chadwick (England) 02:01.403s (best lap); 2. Petr Ptacek (Czech Republic) 02:01.552; 3. Andreas Estner (Germany) 02:01.690.

Race 5: 1. Jamie Chadwick 02:01.005s (best lap); 2. Max Defourny (Belgium) 02:01.126; 3. Danial Frost (Singapore) 02:01.509.

Championship standings (top three, after two rounds):

1. Max Defourny 201 points; 2. Jamie Chadwick 183; 3. Andreas Estner 124.
