Hyderabad’s Anindith Reddy was crowned ‘motorsport person of the year 2017’ at the Federation of Motorsports Clubs of India (FMSCI) awards ceremony here on Sunday.
The 26-year-old had a spectacular season, including the unique distinction of winning both the MRF Formula 1600 and Euro JK 17 titles.
Akbar Ebrahim, FMSCI president, and Justice M.S. Ramesh, chief guest, presented the award to Anindith.
“I would like to thank the FMSCI for honouring me with this award and also for creating various platforms for young motorsport enthusiasts in the country to sharpen their skills,” said Anindith.
K.D. Madan, former FMSCI president and K1000 rally champion, was conferred with the ‘lifetime achievement’ award. His son J.D. Madan collected the award on his behalf.
Future plans
Speaking about the plans to promote motorsports in the country, Ebrahim said, “We are looking to add drifting and autocross tothe National championship. We will also introduce rally cross and cross kart (buggy) as these two categories will attract more youngsters to the sport.”
The FMSCI president added that the federation is also planning to bring a round of World Rally Cross Championship in 2019.
The winners of the various National championships conducted by the FMSCI were also honoured at the awards ceremony.
