After three days of hard grind, six deserving women drivers got the chance to showcase their ‘fine-tuned’ skills in the JK Tyre National Racing Championship scheduled at the Kari Motor Speedway in Chettipalaym here next weekend.

They will be driving under the Ahura Racing banner, a professional racing team started last year by three-time national racing champion Sarosh Hataria. The lucky six will be on the LGB Formula 4 cars and they will be up against the big boys of racing for the entire JKTNRC season

Earlier, about 60 had turned up for the Talent Hunt and Driver Selection process here, and they went through some basic training, guided by the Ahura instructors, the first two days.

Top 24

After a series of driving tests and elimination rounds on Thursday, the top 24 drivers were picked for further practice and final pruning.

A five-member team evaluated the drivers based on fitness, car control, speed and lap times and finally picked six for the JK Tyre show and six more as reserve. The reserve drivers will be present for all round of the JKTNRC and a few may even get to drive the race if for some reason the main driver is not available.

They will also get the track time on unofficial practice days and during the team’s testing and training programmes this year.
