Red Bull launches its new RB6 car for the 2010 Formula One season on Wednesday with Sebastian Vettel beginning two days of pre-season testing Friday in Jerez.
On Saturday, the 22-year-old German will meet compatriot and seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher on the track as the 41-year-old takes his Mercedes Grand Prix W01 through its paces in Spain.
“I certainly won’t be looking in my rear mirror so that when I see Michael I can pull over to the right to let him pass,” Vettel has already made clear.
So far, Ferrari has been the team to impress in pre-season testing with Fernando Alonso and teammate Felipe Massa clearly quicker than their rivals.
Vettel’s new car will be powered by a Renault engine and last year’s runner-up in the drivers’ standings behind Jenson Button remains confident he can go one step further in the 2010 season, which begins March 14 with the Bahrain Grand Prix in Sakhir.
Adrian Newey is involved in the design of the new RB6 with special attention to the new ruling that cars can’t refuel during the race.
