Narain finishes 17th after accident

August 08, 2010 05:50 pm | Updated 05:50 pm IST - Nashville (USA):

Braving an accident early into the race, Narain Karthikeyan managed to finish 17th in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series here.

Starting 22nd on the grid in his sixth NASCAR race, Karthikeyan made an incidental yet hard contact with a truck and then hit the wall on his right side.

Fortunately, he continued but was already battling with a truck that had damage to the alignment of the right front tyre and was turning too much into the corners.

“The accident didn’t help me at all as I was already struggling with the truck, but I had to keep pushing to finish this race. It’s another finish for me, but more importantly it’s a lot of experience and learning which I definitely need.

“Nashville Speedway was without question the hardest and most technical oval I’ve raced so far in NASCAR,” he said after the race on Saturday.

Karthikeyan will next race in Chicago on August 27th.
