With Wayne Rooney out injured, Manchester United will be looking for its first win in this season’s Champions League when it hosts FC Basel on Tuesday.

United, which was held to a 1—1 draw by Benfica in the opening Group C match, also dropped its first points in the Premier League on Saturday at Stoke. But despite the 1—1 draw, United stayed in first place ahead of Manchester City on goal difference.

Man United manager Alex Ferguson will have to cope without Rooney against Basel because of a hamstring injury.

Ferguson says “hopefully, we can strengthen our position. Basel are a decent side though.”

Basel leads Group C after beating Romanian champion Otelul Galati, which hosts Benfica on Tuesday.
