Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) registered their third consecutive victory on day 3 of the fourth Hockey India Junior Men National Championship (Division B) here on Wednesday.

The third day of the Championship played at M R Stadium Egmore and YMCA Stadium here saw startling results as many teams registered their first win, while SSCB stayed on top of Pool C with their third win.

Services Sports Control Board showered a total of 10 goals to demolish Goa 10—0 in a lopsided match.

The first goal was scored by Jitender in the 5th minute, while Navpreet Singh (7th, 17th and 67th) and Ramandeep (21st, 37th and 59th) continued the destruction of Goa.

In a Pool A match, Steel Plant Sports Board registered their second consecutive win, defeating the high-flying Hockey Gangpur-Odisha 5—2.

Steel Plant Sports Board gained control of the match in the first half itself when Janma Majhi scored two field goals within a span of three minutes in the 28th and the 30th minute of the game, taking a much-needed 2—0 lead.

Another goal from Sanjiv Ekka of Steel Plant Sports Board helped the team extend the lead to 3—0.

A field goal and a penalty corner from Sudeep Kerketta and Dilip Lakra, however, helped Hockey Gangpur—Odisha reduce the goal margin but they ultimately failed to change the fate.

In another Pool A match, Puducherry spanked Uttarakhand 10—1 to register their first win.

Puducherry went all out from the start as P Arun Kumar sliced in a field goal in the second minute of the game. Arun became the highest scorer of the match as he scored a total of four goals, followed by V Veerathaminzhan with three goals to his credit in the 40th, 46th and 58th minute.

The only goal to Uttrakhand’s credit came through Vikas Joshi in the 28th minute which was only good enough to open Uttrakhand’s account in the game.
