HI asks units not to release players for WSH

November 18, 2011 01:48 am | Updated November 16, 2021 11:57 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

Hockey India (HI) has advised its affiliated units against allowing their players to participate in the World Series Hockey (WSH).

At its annual general meeting here on Thursday, the HI top brass asked various member units not to release the players for the Indian Hockey Federation (IHF)-backed WSH, scheduled to start here on December 17, as it would attract the wrath of the International Hockey Federation (FIH).

The FIH has maintained that the WSH is an unsanctioned event and has asked HI to organise a professional league in 2013.
