Air India to meet Indian Oil

Defending champion Air India topped Group B with seven points and will take on last year's finalist Indian Oil in the semifinals of the Coal India 116th Beighton Cup hockey tournament here.

The other semifinal will be between ONGC, which finished first in Group A, and Punjab National Bank.

In the final set of quarterfinal league matches at the SAI ground on Tuesday, Indian Oil and ONGC played out a 3-3 draw. The result helped ONGC top the group on goal difference after both ended with seven points (two wins and a draw).

Wednesday is a rest day.

The results (quarterfinal league): Group A: Indian Oil 3 (Deepak Thakur 9 & 32, Bharat 69) drew with ONGC 3 (Roshan Minz 57 & 59, Diwakar Ram 68).

Group B: Air India 2 (Ajmer Singh 22, Shivander Singh 67) bt Army XI 0; PNB 2 (Jalwinder Singh 3, Arjun 69) drew with South Central Railway 2 (Asish Minz 4, Belsajar Horo 44).
