Netherlands pips India 5-3

A brace each by Taeke Takema and Prabhjot Singh featured the first hockey Test between the Netherlands and India.

The Netherlands won the contest 5-3 after leading 5-0 at half-time on Friday.

Hoyang put the Dutch ahead and was followed by Teun di Nooijer, Taeke Takema (2) and Hofmann.

Sardar Singh scored for India to reduce the margin and then Prabhjot Singh struck twice for 5-3. The second Test is scheduled for August 16.

India is on a four nation Test series, and won 2-1 against Belgium. It lost the series 1-2 and 0-2 against Spain.
