United Sikkim held by Green Valley

Baichung Bhutia's United Sikkim FC, one of the favourites to make it from Group 1, was held 3-3 by Guwahati-based Green Valley, at Silchar in an I-League second division match on Wednesday.

Riding on a brace by Denghming Thanga, Mizoram's Luangmual defeated Mumbai's PIFA Colaba 2-1 in a Group 3 league at the Ambedkar Stadium in New Delhi.

Thanga struck in the 27th and 86th minutes, while George Udo scored the solitary goal for PIFA in the 85th minute.

With this, Luangmual reached five points from three matches, while PIFA has one from three outings.

In an evenly contested match, Meghalaya's Langsning FC edged past Delhi's Simla Youngs 3-2 in another match of the same group.

Langsning took the lead through Victor Shadap (12th minute). The Delhi outfit neutralised it in the 31st minute through Badru's penalty. A minute later, Manoj Choudhary extended the lead for the local side through a spectacular bicycle kick.

The Meghalaya outfit came back into the game minutes before the first half. Yinka Joel Sunday headed the ball in. Victor Shadap struck again in the 76th minute executing a powerful scissor kick from top of the penalty box to give Langsning the victory.

The three points helped Langsning reach to seven from three games while Simla Youngs stayed on four from three outings.

At Silchar (Group 1): United Sikkim FC (Gangtok) drew with Green Valley (Guwahati) 3-3.

At Cuttack (Group 2): Kalighat Milan Sangha (Kolkata) bt Kenkre FC (Mumbai) 3-1.

At Delhi (Group 3): Luangmual FC (Mizoram) bt PIFA Colaba (Mumbai) 2-1; Langsning FC (Shillong) bt Simla Youngs FC (New Delhi) 3-2.
