TN school downs SAI, Kolkata

Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Tamil Nadu defeated Sports Authority of India, Kolkata 2-1 to enter the semifinals of the Subroto Cup (Under-17 international football tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Tuesday.

Tamil Nadu took the lead 15 minutes into the game through A. Durga but Kolkata drew level just four minutes later when Nitu Nilda scored. D. Ananthi’s 32nd minute strike ensured the Tamil Nadu team regained the lead and hung on to register an impressive victory.

In the second quarterfinal, Nilmani English School from Manipur defeated GVHHS, Kerala 5-1 to join Bangladesh Krira Shiksha Pratisthan and Assam’s Simbargaon High School in the semifinals.

Bangladesh Krira Shiksha Protisthan 6 (Aklima Khatim 3, Unnoti, Afeida, Sumi) bt Rabia Balkhi School, Afghanistan 0.

Simbargaon High School, Assam 1 (Apurna Narzary) bt Umthli Higher Secondary School, Meghalaya 0 .
