Striker Onkeya Okolie Odafa came up with two late goals to help Mohun Bagan recover from a goal's deficit before downing Mumbai FC 2-1 in a 20th round encounter of the I-League at the Salt Lake Stadium here on Saturday.

Mumbai FC took the lead in the first session when Friday Gbeneme scored before Odafa scored twice in second session to ensure the win for Mohun Bagan.

Mumbai FC began strongly against the host. With its midfield and attack combining well, the visitors gained regular access into the striking zone. Mumbai FC midfielder Cavin Lobo's snap attempt in the 22nd minute narrowly missed the Mohun Bagan goal.

Lobo's attempt set the pace for the visitors, who found the target when Gbeneme Friday chested down a long ball, got the better of Bagan stopper-back Anwar Ali and finished with a neat half-volley.

Odafa came close to scoring the equaliser for Mohun Bagan in the 34th minute but a diving save by Mumbai FC custodian Sanjiban Ghosh negated his effort. The wait for the equaliser for Bagan extended late into the second half as Mumbai FC held on to the lead.

Finally, a rash tackle by Mumbai FC defender Dhanachandra Singh inside the box on Bagan midfielder Jewel Raja fetched the host a penalty in the 74th minute. Odafa scored from the spot to draw level.

The host got the lead in the 81st minute when Sanjiban Ghosh misjudged a cross allowing Anwar to head it down to an unmarked Odafa, who calmly put the ball into the net.

Mohun Bagan tallies 37 points from 20 matches, while Mumbai FC continues in the bottom-half of the league table with 17 points from 20 matches.
